Owners think their hedgie is too fat and feed them not enough food. If your hedgie is losing weight to fast, contact your vet immediately.

There are 15 species of hedgehogs in Europe, Asia and Africa. Hedgehogs are carnivores. To find their food they root through undergrowth in search of insects - earthworms, snails and slugs, centipedes; small mammals - mice; birds; reptiles - frogs, and snakes. It will also eat eggs, fruit, fungi and roots. A hedgehog will eat one-third of its body weight in one night. Their size is comparative to the size of a tea cup. With their body size of 5 to 12 inches (13-30 cm). The tail measures 1 to 2 inches (3-5 cm). The body weight of 14 to 39 oz (398-1,106 g).

Hedgehogs are not neccesarily fat. However, obesity can be a problem with them if not fed properly.
