Its because the male wants to mate, and they think the female is pretty. Plus the male giraffe is thinking " My mom told me I need a wife someday and here is my chance for true love!" Or the male is her body guard and protects the female from unexpected visitor's. but the number one reason is mating. A male giraffe needs love and needs to have babies and have his own life, not living with his mother who makes him eat is mushrooms every night, and reads him bed time stories when he is only 3 years old. That's old for a giraffe! And again the male giraffe follows the female giraffe because they want to mate.
Giraffes stay in groups because of the predators in the wild. If they wouldn't be in groups they would probably be instinct.

NO. No, giraffes are actually viscious flesh eating carnivores. I advise you to stay away from them.
The gestation period (time that the foetus stays in the womb) for giraffes is 14-15 months.
Giraffes have many predators, the main 2 being man and lions. they are hunted by man for their patterns and by lions for food. but giraffes are very cleaver. they always stay in groups and have excellent hearing so it is easy for them to notice near by predators. but don't be fooled their hind legs are so strong they have been known to kick a lions head off on more than one occasion!
When a giraffe is young, it stays with its parents. Adult giraffes live alone but sometimes they go together as a group to eat.
