There's no one reason a dog might need a C-section, but there is one rule: the sooner you realize you have a problem and your mother-to-be might require a C-section, the better the odds that all will go well.
Look out for the following situations, which indicate she may need veterinary help:
Abnormal vaginal discharge that's a greenish-yellow, or a bloody or black discharge anytime after the day 62 of her pregnancy
Listen to your gut instinct, If you feel your dog needs help, you shouldn't hesitate calling your vet. Do not rely on any internet helpline during a medical emergency!
Yes
Yes but there might be difficulties. The female dog has to be the medium sized dog because if the male is quite a good size bigger than the female then the female's puppies would be too big for her to give birth to, and then she would need a c-section. If the dog doesn't get the c-section, she and her puppies will most likely die.
All surgery has risks, but in the vast majority of cases a C section dog will have a normal recovery and be able to have litters in the future with no problems.
You'll need a c-section.
It depends on the babies position and health. Most multiple pregnancy is delivered by c-section.
If your OB scheduled a date for your c-section you would not need to go into labor.
A Vet and money to pay for a c-section.
The best thing to do is have your tubal at the same time as the c-section. Many women opt for this. If you know it is your last baby, you should just do it then. It is very easy for the doctors to do it. If you had a c-section and didn't know that you wanted it to be your last baby, but now you want a tubal, then you should give your body a little time to heal. I am not a doctor, but I don't think you need to wait more than a year, some doctors suggest waiting 1.5 years to have another baby after c-section, so maybe that it a good time to wait.
