It is believed by biologists that humans and chimpanzees are both the descendants of some earlier primate species. The process by which new species evolve has been described at length by Charles Darwin and subsequent evolutionary biologists such as Richard Dawkins, Stephen Gould, etc. Random variations lead in some cases to traits that allow a better exploitation of some ecological niche. Chimpanzees have their specialty and we have ours.
