Is the nose dry? Is the stomach area hard and bloated? Does the dog whimper when moved? Does its legs go out from under it for no reason? Are its eyes lack luster instead of bright and shiny? Does it mope around? Any or all of these symptoms can mean that the dog is suffering.

If a dog has pain or itching in the ears, he might do any of the following: -- frequent 'shaking' of the head, like when he shakes water off after a bath; -- frequent scratching of the ears, with a paw; -- excessive chewing of all kinds of things, like when he was a puppy cutting teeth; Our dog is going through an ear infection right now. It's being treated and is improving. The actions listed above are how we discovered it.
