The State of Utah has two Herds of Bison. One on Antelope Island and one in the Henry Mountains.
Antelope
A large African antelope is called a topi. The topi can be found living in herds on the Serengeti Plain. They resemble a hartebeest, only a darker color.
Herds refer to groups of ungulate or equine animals numbering from as few as two to as many as thousands. It is a term for animals like horses, cattle, zebras, antelope, bison, caribou, etc.
No, a group of lions is called a pride. Herds are usually groups of grazing animals such as zebras or antelope.
Herd is a term generally used for large herbivores: cattle, horses, elephants, antelope, deer et cetera.
Big Dicks
The prairies that have been converted to farmland contributed to the decline of bison and herds and predators (and antelope). They all followed to the farmland and the praires have become the richest agricultural region.
Zebras live in herds on the African plains. Wildebeest, elephants, lions and antelope also live there.
The social structure of antelope is based on strength, age, and territory. Strong adult males are known as bulls, and bulls establish territories in areas that are good for grazing. Bulls encourage females to enter their territories and challenge other males who get too close. Female antelope form herds of between 5 and 20 members.
Kudu
Alone. And not all animal groups are herds. Like crashes (rhino) armies (catepillars) pride (lion) or pack (wolves etc etc) whereas herds are only really used in grazers, like deer or antelope.
