Being that it is a push mower, the advantage is not having to lower the handle so far to raise the front wheels when making a sharp turn-around.
The bearing or the bearing shaft of the front wheels are not aligned and the wheel balance alos could be a reason that tends to wear out the front tires.
If you bag your grass clippings a rear wheel drive self propelled mower is better . As the bag fills up it adds weight to the rear , which tends to " tip " weight off the front wheels
move the washers on that wheel if they have them
Likely replace the self propelled tranny. not cheap repair job
You will have to put the rider on a ramp in order to get under it to replace the blades. For lack of a ramp, I leaned two 1 x 12 boards from the ground to the edge of my back porch and pushed the rider up so the front wheels would be on the porch. Had to lie down on the ground to do the work, but defintely worked ok. Regardless of which method you use, be sure and block the wheels for safety,
I've never owned a self-propelled mower, but I would think there would be a lever to engage the wheels for self-propulsion. If the lever is in neutral. I would think you would be able to pull the mower backwards on all four wheels. If there is no lever and the mower is self-propelled at all times, you would have to raise the wheels that are propelled in order to pull the mower backwards.
The same as any riding mower. The following is a site which explains how the work: http://www.ehow.com/how-does_4689999_rideon-lawn-mower-work.html
Most riding lawn mower wheels that don't have lug nuts have the hub welded to them and are kept in place by a snap ring (or a ring with a bolt going through it) right in front of the hub. Jack the riding mower up to about 1 inch off the ground, remove the snap ring (or ring with bolt) and slide the tire with rim and hub off the spindle. If the wheels have lug nuts, loosen the lug nuts before jacking the mower up.
Bob, this is not an answer to your guestion but we are thinking of buying an Earthwise 20 in. cordless mower, model 60120. How do you like yours?
Yes. I have the 725 with 4 ft blower. Even at 235 Lbs I don't put enough weight on front wheels to get traction with the lugged tires.
