I was driving on Hiway 21 about fifteen miles east of Bastrop last weekend. Broad daylight. An animal that looks just like these pix crossed the road in front of me. I travel quite a bit, but I have never seen a ground hog in central Texas.
Note: There was a terrible wildfire a few months back that destroyed huge areas just a few miles from where I was. Possibly the animal was displaced.
His coat seemed healthy and he looked to be over 10 pounds. Hmmmmm.
Yes, we were in Cherokee Village, there is a groundhog living under the aluminum shed of the house our friends from Canada own. He came out one day into the yard. We fed him apples and left over buns at the entrance to his hole.
