This is a question more of raising the animals together and training, than a breed issue. It is possible to have a golden retriever that is totally tolerant of other animals, just like it is possible to have a golden retriever that has no "social skills" at all. When introducing the animals, be sure to have a calm and controlled situation. It is best to have extra sets of hands on deck. Keep a close eye on things because a macaw can hurt the dog as easily as the dog can hurt the macaw.
Our golden allows our birds and cat to sleep on top of him while he is napping, and he is pretty gentle with them. He was also exposed to them from the time he was puppy.
