Deer do not shed their hooves. Male deer shed their antlers each year around December. Sometimes a little earlier or later depending on the weather and food supply. A new set begins to grow right away.

Deer have what is called a "cloven" hoof. A cloven hoof looks like a horse hoof, to which God took a meat cleaver. A horse hoof looks like a circle with the back side flat. A deer hoof looks like that only with a notch or very thin triangle shape taken out of the front or the side opposite the flat side.

Deer don't need fingers or opposable thumbs. They can run faster with hooves than with hands.
