Chinchillas should never get wet. Due to the denseness of the fur, the fur will not dry. The wet fur will fall out if it is wet for too long leaving the chinchilla exposed to the elements as minor as they are for us they are major elements to them. If your chinchilla gets wet towel dry him the best you can and then use a hair dryer to finish the job. Make sure the heat is set on low. Be aware that the hair dryer might scare your chinchilla.
One more thing i am aware of , ive also hear that chinchillas do over heat esaly , so yeah make sure you blow dry your chinchilla very carefully , not hot not cold but warm , and make sure its not to lowed so your chinchilla wont get scared :) - kmf
Hey--Chinchillas like to drink water...However, they cannot get wet because their fur is so dense that it is difficult to dry. This allows for fungus to grow under their fur and become ill. They are also susceptible to pneumonia if they get chilled--which the chances would increase if they get wet.
If your chinchilla gets wet, keep them in a towel and try to get as much excess water off of them...then keep them warm and towel dry them in hour (or so) intervals to make sure they're drying off.
umm no. They're not supposed to get wet because of the natural oils in their skin and supposedly it is how they help regulate their body temperature. Mine fell in the toilet once and when she was ill she had to be hand feed special mushy food and when the messy bits dried around her face I had to wet her a bit. She's 12, still alive!
yes they can get wet tail, but its more common in hamsters

Wet tail is a disease hamsters and rodents get, some rodents do get it, it is very fatal
Do you mean "Do Chinchillas Live in the Rainforest?".well if that is what you meant, then the answer is NO!Chinchillas can not get wet at all, due to the denseness of their fur, it will not dry, causeing the fur to get moldy, and rot off. Also, because their fur is so dense, they can't handle the heat very well, causeing them to have heat stroke. The answer to your question is a definite NO!
Well some insects can't get wet. For instance, A butterfly. Chinchillas are one of the animals that shouldn't get wet.
