Sharp teeth have three purposes. The first is to kill prey, which is very difficult to do without sharp teeth. The second is to grip struggling prey, during the process of trying to kill it. The third is to tear flesh off the bones and into bite size pieces. Dull teeth would be ineffective at killing prey, make it easier for prey to escape, and make it much more difficult for the carnivore to tear off bite size pieces.
