I do not think that you can walk a gerbil. you would need a whole body harness small enough for a gerbil, and even then they will chew through it or slip out of it. Gerbil are masters of escape. not to mention that if you were to walk a gerbil, they would get all dirty and get fleas, and if you saw them walk out of your sight into a bush while on the walk, they may get squished by something.
Honestly, what I am trying to say in a whole round-about way, It is not a good idea to walk gerbils.
I really cannot think of any Pros to walking a gerbil, only cons. now, if you have a whole play pin set up for them in a room where no other animals are, and make sure that they cannot get out of it, then you can put them in that and let them run around your room.
You should avoid holding a Gerbil by its tail except for extreme circumstances such as administering medicine.
If you grab the end of it's tail it will come off as a defence mechanism and if you hold it too close to the base you can cause damage.
Most importantly though, the Gerbil will think it very uncool and will take longer to become tame, no one wants to be waved about by the bottom.
If you find your Gerbil hard to catch use a toilet tube or glass jar to gently lift it out of the tank.
Only if you hold by the very tip. Other wise, your gerbil won't be hurt by you holding it by its tail.
Self Defence in the wild = When a predator got the gerbil the gerbil losses hair on tail and if needed the tail pops of so the predator will eat the tail and the gerbil will get a chance to run away ,its like with a leopard gecko
It will sometimes grow back. But if your not sure what happened or you don't know what to do go to a vet and get it checked out.
yes
yes
Take it to your vet!
by its tail or if the gerbil is calm u can just pic it up by its sides it wont bite
Yeah, why not?
Put it on the naughty chair
What I did was have a tough glove (or gardening glove) and hold the FRIGHTENED gerbil. Note:A frightened gerbil bites. Grab a napkin, toilet paper, or anything available like that and use it to cover up the wound. Maybe do something like watch TV or something while paying attention to your gerbil. Hold it there for a good 15 to 30 min and he should be fine. Be careful. If not attended to fast enough, the Gerbil could bleed to death. - GerbilExpert
it depends on the type of gerbil
you can grab it by the tail but I just scoop him up from his stomach.
