Yes a pet raccoon can contract rabies, but only if it has not been vaccinated against the virus, and comes in contact with another animal that is carrying the virus. So keep your pet raccoon vaccinated and contained safely and you will have no problems with rabies!
No. They actually don't carry any diseases. That is a myth. It has been tested and proven that teens that get a monkey (squirrel monkey or spider monkey in paticular) make more money and get better jobs and improve in school. The earlier in life they get their own the better the improvement. Not my words but my neighbor is a scientist and studies monkeys and he has 3 or 4 and has convinced me to get a couple of my own. I make like 25,000 dollars a year from selling the babies! The babies are a little more work so be careful when breeding.
All animals can carry rabies, except for the hyena, which is immune to it, but can still carry it.

The baby raccoon can only get rabies if it is exposed to the saliva of another animal with rabies. If the mother has rabies, she more then likely passed it to the baby, but if not, the baby wouldn't get it, unless around other animals.
Most pet mice are cage raised and are never exposed to rabies . Pet mice caught in the wild may carry some diseaes but slim to none chance that it would be rabies. Also they do not have salivary glands so they can't transmit rabies.
Any raccoon, male or female, young or old, can have rabies if they have been bitten by an expose animal.

The Raccoon would probably give the bear rabies so in the long run... the raccoon

yesObviously, not all of them, but racoons CAN have rabies. Some racoons do have raibies. If you see them frothing at the mouth that is a distinct sign and you should back away slowly. Do Not Try To Pet It! If it does have raibies you petting it would cause irritation and it could bite you.
