A chihuahua is like most dogs...takes time and patience to train them. I've found through my 7 year old chihuahua that she was quite easy to potty train...used a lot of positive reinforcement. When she peed where I wanted her to go, I gave her plenty of "good girls"...and at the age of 7 I still do that. Make it a happy and exciting experience for your puppy and they'll do whatever you want or need them to do. A chihuahua lives to please it's owner...they learn fairly quickly if given the right guidance.

Generally, Chow Chows are considered to be hard to train since they can be stubborn at times. Chow Chows are also listed as the fourth least intelligent dog breed in the book The Intelligence of Dogs by Stanley Coren. They are in the "Lowest Degree of Working/Obedience Intelligence" group, where they learn new commands with 80 or more repetitions and obey first commands 25% of the time or worst.

However, there are exceptions and some Chow Chows can be easy to train. Also, positive reinforcements can also make training Chow Chows an easier job.
