A shirt made of gabardine fabric. Gabardine is a tough, tightly woven fabric used to make suits, overcoats, trousers uniforms, and other garments. The fibre used to make the fabric is traditionally worsted wool, but may also be cotton, texturized polyester, or a blend. Gabardine is woven as a warp-faced steep or regular twill, with a prominent diagonal rib on the face and smooth surface on the back. Garbardine always has many more warp than fillingyarns.
Gabardine is closely woven fabric, and in this case, woven from wool.

A Ricky Ricardo jacket is a gabardine (both wool or cotton or blend) short sports jacket with a camp shirt type collar and a straight hem. They were THE thing in the 40s and early 50s. Many were often two-toned: tan and black, houndstooth and solid in different colors etc. They would be similar in concept to a cotton gabardine golf jacket like a barracuta but not in style. THEY WERE COOL.
