Laptops should always be placed in carry-on baggage. This is because laptops are expensive and can be damaged during the loading and unloading process of the checked baggage. If you are a frequent air traveller, you might have noticed that they really "throw" your baggages when loading onto/unloading from the aircraft.
Most airlines will limit the amount of carryon luggage you can take. Three may be possible, but four is unlikely.
Checked luggage and hand carry should not more than 30 KG. Laptop is exception to this. Cheers.
Never check your laptop with your luggage.
Should you place your government laptop in checked baggage before a flight
These are some companies that have good reviews for their carry-on luggage. Cabin Max and Lowe Alpine produce a ruck-sack style bag. For a more professional look, Antler have a trolley case. Generally, Yes. If possible, carry your laptop onto the plane as hand luggage. It is not a good idea to check a laptop in as luggage for the hold as it may be stolen by baggage handling staff. They can tell there is a valuable laptop in there because all luggage is X-Ray scanned.

When traveling for business, be sure to label your luggage with business luggage tags. You should even tag your carry-on luggage in case you misplace it when you are in the airport. It is beneficial to label the luggage with your business name so that the luggage can be sent back to your company if it gets lost in transit. You should especially mark your laptop bag, since this would be a very expensive item to replace. Make sure that you include a phone number on your tag so that the airline can call you immediately if they find your lost luggage.
You don't "have" to. But if you're flying in/out of the US, the TSA may break your suitcase open to inspect the contents if you send it through locked. And you won't get any compensation for any damages.
Normal consumer electrical items, like laptop computers, cell phones, hair-dryer, toothbrush, etc are all acceptable in carry-on luggage. Industrial and DIY tools, such as electric screwdrivers, drills etc are NOT allowed in carry-on luggage but can be checked in as hold luggage.
you can take it on but a laptop bag counts as hand luggage, so if your fits inside your hand luggage, or your hand luggage will fit inside your laptop bag, you'll be fine! don't know if this helps because you may have already flown but thought i would answer anyway! :D
