Different languages contain words/concepts and sentence structures with meanings and structures that cannot be directly translated nto other languages, and when you loose these languages, these very concepts become lost forever, and while we are loosing languages at an astonishing rate(hundreds a year) we are not creating nearly as many new languages.

Many psychological aspects about people, as well as information in the fields of linguistics and hermeneutics find much valuable information in little known languages which reveal things about how we communicate not previously understood.

Also, in World War two the U.S. had the best/most difficult to break code systems, and this was because their code systems were based off Native American languages which no other nation had access too, as well as their ability to readily translate these codes with their large supply of people ready to translate them(all the Native Americans).

Imagine losing all the native American tribal languages? You lose not only a history you lose culture and meaning for that group of descendants.

Human diversity is always to be preserved, nurtured and extended. Social diversity, and especially that different-way-of-thinking revealed by different languages, is as good for a population as genetic diversity is. Diversity and redundancy are strong: diverse and redundant systems can take a hit and keep going, like the African Queen, a motor boat that kept chugging along held together with bandages and baling wire. Streamlined, efficient systems, by contrast, like a jet aircraft, are weak: a single failure, like a small bird flying into an engine, can cause a catastrophic crash.

I would ask why should we not protect the lesser known languages. Lesser known does not mean lesser value. If the Maori had not fought to protect and preserve their language it may have been lost by now. Instead of which , it is in fact thriving. It is a beautiful language and songs in that language are very beautiful.

Protecting lesser-known languages is important because it contributes to cultural diversity and preserves unique perspectives and knowledge. It helps maintain the identity and heritage of a community, fosters inclusivity, and enriches the global linguistic landscape.
