For me, BBQ is an outside event so that cooking doesn't heat up the house even more than normal summer heat. It's a social thing too. AND doesn't everyone love a good plate of hot food? I would say that if it's too hot to be outside in the first place, I wouldn't cook or socialize outside anyway.
