It is unknown when exactly Bjarni Herjolfsson died, as it was never documented. It is said that following the murder of his son, the kidnapping of his wife, and the selling his ship to Leif Erickson that he killed himself. It is unknown if that is true or if he survived and settled somewhere.
Leif Ericson wanted to go the land that Bjarni Herjulfsson* had seen on his voyage. Leif later found this land and named it Vinland. *prouncation: bee-ar-nee her-julf-sun
nobody knows --------- Nobody knows for sure but we can be pretty sure he retraced the voyage of Bjarni Herjulfsson. Bjarni saw North America but did not go ashore. Leif did, at Helluland, Markland and Vinland. He over wintered at Vinland and returned to Greenland in the spring.
Bjarni Herjulfsson was in a fierce wind while sailing from Iceland to Greenland. He named the entire St. Lawrence area Vinland because of all the wild grapes. They then made settlements in Newfoundland.
