"Bell" as in "the bell rings" "Dame" not as in the UK title "dame", but as in the concrete building, a dam "Sans" as "San" in "San Francisco" or "san/dwich" (the second S isn't heard) "Merci" as in "merciful", except for the "e" that is more like in "let", "set", "vet(erinary)"
