To make present perfect you use have + past participle.

The past participles of regular verbs are easy to remember they all end in -ed

eg walk / walked / walked. (pp is bold)

So you need to learn the past participles of irregular verbs

eg run / ran / run

A past sentence with a regular verb is: I walked to the store.

The present perfect using walk is: I have walked to the store.

A past sentence using an irregular verb is: They ate the cake.

The present perfect using eat is: They have eaten the cake.

To convert a past tense verb to present perfect tense, you typically need the helping verb "have" followed by the past participle of the main verb. For example: "I ate" (past tense) becomes "I have eaten" (present perfect tense).
