Added: Although most 'routine' reports are normally filed by the end of their shift, certain more complex or difficult reports may take more time, especially if a death or serious injury is involved and an accident reconstruction investigation must take place.

∙ 14y agoYou have 10 days to file a police report
You do not need to report it to the police you need to report it to the DMV within 5 days.
Yes you can.
Unless the accident required further investigation, i.e. there was a traffic death or the accident occurred during the comission of a crime, the report should be turned in at the end of the day. It might still have to be approved by the officer's supervisor and go through records, so it could be about three business days before a copy of the report is available to the public.
You have 10 days to report accidents over $1,000 in Texas if a police official doesnt' show up on the scene. The sooner the better.
10 days after the accident in NY ADDED: In several jurisdictions I am aware of it is: within 24 hours after its occurrence. Obviously, it seems as if it would be a wise idea to check your local regulations
Generally speaking, no. It usually takes at least a few days for the report to be completed so whatever you get at the scene of the accident won't be much. Whatever the insurance company got from the police, you should be able to get it too.
Yes! The police will almost always show up after a car accident. If they don’t, however, Florida laws require motorists to report any crash that they are involved in, especially if it caused apparent property damage of at least $500, injury, or death. The report should be made within ten days to the Florida Highway Patrol station, sheriff’s office or the local police department if the crash happened within a municipality.
