My friend is a diagnosed alcholic, when she relapsed she was sent to an inpatient program. When she was discharged from that program she was prescribed Trazodone for sleep, and Hydroxizine for anxiety. She tested positive for benzodiazepines, and may now be facing a stay in a halfway house, due to this results. I believe that if they are not in the same family, that one or both of her prescribed meds could produce a false positive. Am I correct?
NO Trazodone is not a benzo Trazodone is non-addictive and classified as an anti-depressant, also prescribed for sleep PRESCRIBED FOR: Trazodone is primarily used for the treatment of depression. It is sometimes prescribed as a sedative, and it also is used in combination with other drugs for the treatment of panic attacks, aggressive behavior, agoraphobia, and cocaine withdrawal. Benzodiazepines are a type of tranquilizer ( Librium®, Valium®, Halcion®, Klonopin®, and Xanax® - these drugs WILL cause you to test positive for benzodiazepine)
Yes... It's a benzodiazipine!
Trazodone is a prescription drug given out to treat depression. In an urine analysis it would should up as an antidepressant if it is tested for.
if i take a drug test will my trazadone show as the same as xanax?
Trazodone is not a barbiturate, it is a serotonin antagonist and reuptake inhibitor (SARI) used to treat depression and anxiety. It should not typically show up as a barbiturate in a urine test, as barbiturates are a separate class of drugs that act on the central nervous system in a different way.
Yes. They are both benzodiazepines. They can, however, be differentiated by a GC/MS urine test.
No. Trazodone is a tetracyclic agent, not a benzodiazepine.
It has been recoded and verified in double-blind research experiments that Trazodone may show false positive benzodiazepine results on urine drug screens. The mechanism for this is not currently known; however, it appears that the metabolites of Trazodone may be similar to those of various benzodiazepines that are tested for on typical urine drug screens..
No. Anti-Psychotics don't show up as Benzodiazepines in a drug test.
I don't know how it would. Trazodone mainly an anti-depressentt. It's not a narcotic. They can be used for anxiety and can have a calming, slightly tranquilizing effect. So where they may have the same calming effect, they're completely different drugs.
Can WHAT drug show up positive in your question?
Yes.
No they don't show up in your urine.
