He is a person with an unusual ability to dominate others. He assembled a destructive, doomsday cult around himself, which the media later called The Family. At one time, it numbered in excess of 100 individuals at the Spahn Ranch some 30 miles northwest of Los Angeles CA. Manson was referred to both as "God" and "Satan" by his followers. As the family's guru, he claimed to be a reincarnation of Jesus Christ.

Manson could never be described as a great speaker. Winston Churchill was a great speaker, President Kennedy was a great speaker, and of course Hitler was called "the great orator". What Manson was, was a small fish in a very small puddle. He manipulated, bullied, threatened and frightened the hell out of everyone that met him. To me that's not great anything.

Well put Rumba, like I say he was a person with an unsual ability to dominate others not a well spoken man. I like your words betters in this question.
