Most people became pirates to get money! Many British people became pirates because Britan would pay if they took gold and jewels from spanish ships! Unfortunetly for the British leaders most of their "privateers" rebelled and ended up plundering and pillaging for their lives!

Some1 might become a pirate just to get rich...That's what almost all pirates fight for, greed and plunder. During the Golden Age of Piracy (early 1700s), it was tempting alternative to poorly paid work on merchant ships or in the navy, where sailors were treated practically like slaves and lived a hard life. A pirate, on the other hand, had much freedom and lots of money.
