- Any of the combinations listed above, when they do not fall under the following criteria for exemption from CDL requirements:
- Recreational vehicles: when operated for private, non-commercial usage.
- Military vehicles: Operated by military personnel in the course of their duties (this includes active duty personnel, reservists, and members of the National Guard.
- Farm vehicles: When registered as farm vehicles, used exclusively for the activities of that farm, operated within a 100 air mile/150 road mile radius of the farm, and operated by the farmer, immediate family members of the farmer, or direct employees of the farmer.
- Emergency vehicles: when operated by emergency services personnel in the course of their duties.
Any job which involves the operation of a Class 7 or Class 8 trucks on public roadways, and any job which involves the operation of a vehicle of any weight class which is carrying hazardous materials or is designed to transport more than 15 persons (including the driver).
