Lets say I was your friend and you asked me how my day was yesterday. I tell you about meeting up with co-workers for lunch, dinner with a girl and a few drinks at the bar to top it all off. What i didn't tell you, or omitted from the story, was that the girl I met for dinner was your girlfriend and that her and I have been seeing each other behind your back for the past month. In essence, I was 'lying by omission' or just not telling the complete story.
