Five main responsibilities of the legislative branch include:
1. Writing and debating bills to be passed to solve problems in society.
2. Maintain the Military
3. Investigate any important National issues that require quick and efficient action.
4. Financial Responsibilities which include the ability to retrieve or spend money and overseeing interstate and foreign commerse and trade.
5. Responsible for the trial of any government officials who are accused of committing a crime.
The legislative branch makes laws, lay and collect taxes, declare war, perform all functions of impeachment, and raise and support the military. Each also has exclusive powers.
