Even if you give your permission, if the video-taping is done for any commercial or money making reason, you must obtain a signed release from EVERYONE who may appear on that tape, authorizing you to make commercial use of their image. If not, you must edit out their identifiable features before showing the tape.

There are certainly some things that are, in and of themselves, unlawful to film or videotape (e.g.: child porn - animal abuse - etc).If you are setting up a video surveillance system for home security, you have a lawful right to do so. However if you are setting up a hhidden surveillance system for the sole purpose of capturing the "personal or intimate" moments of other people (or family) without their knowledge - that is also unlawful and an invasion of their privacy even though it takes place in your residence.
