Answer
I have investigated many of Snopes answers and found them to be false. Many things they say are not true, in fact are. I have also discovered that this site is operated by a husband and wife team with far-left leanings and many of their answers are designed to coincide with their political views. Be very careful in trusting this site.
Answer
Always find more than one source for any information on the internet, never rely on a signle source. Get to know who you can trust. Remember that blogs are someone's opinion and can be information out of context, not necessarily facts.
No, quite the opposite. The Snopes website examines hoaxes, potential scams and urban legends for any signs of validity. Some they believe are true, some they can find a bit of evidence for, some are plain lies.
Everyone is free to believe what they want, and can believe the hoaxes are truth and Snopes is lie. But the big difference between scams/urban legends, and a site like Snopes, is the former lack any verifiable facts, or use only identifying information that is very vague, and do not cite their sources. On the other hand, Snopes documents things, links to original sources, etc.

The Snopes website was created in 1995 by David Mikkelson, and it's a site that debunks urban myths and rumors. The name "Snopes" comes from a dysfunctional family name in the works of author William Faulkner.
