It depends on the argument or what it is about, but you can always give the person a compliment or say something like, "I can see where you would think that and you have a right to your opinion but I see it this way so why don't we listen to what each other has to say and maybe agree to disagree."

Well, kindof varies on situation and people. Hopefully you can tweak it to fit your situation. First, figure out what the disagreement is on. Remember to say you don't like the behavior not the person. "I love you, but I don't enjoy when you pick your teeth at the table."

Also rather than blaming the other person, say what you can work on.

"I know at times I can be jealous and I will try my best to not jump to conclusions."

Then, discuss and try to come up with a compromise. If too angry, ask if you can cool down and talk later.

TIP- People will respond better to compliments than complaints. EX: "You're so lazy, why are you such a slob? Pick up after yourself" or "I really love it when you take out the trash."
