im trying to do this too.. so here's what i found you have to go to your local court. for example, in dc, you would go to the superior court and depending on the amount in controversy ($$ you are suing for), you pay a fee. if the amount in controversy is under $5,000 then you would be suing in small claims court. you must also figure out the legal name of the defendant. this would be either on the police report (if it is a person), or if it is a business, you can generally search for the registered agent (legal owner) of the business by going to the Department of Consumer and Regulatory Affairs. I am providing a website that explains how to file a civil complain in Washington, DC as an example: http:/www.dccourts.gov/dccourts/superior/civil/small_claims.jsp You must submit to the court a Statement of Claim form. The Statement of Claim form requests the following information: your name, address, and telephone number where you can be reached during the day; the correct name and address of the party you are suing; and a simple but complete statement of why you are suing. If you are suing a corporation, you will need its proper name, address, and the registered agent's name or owner's name and address. please see the FAQ: http:/www.dccourts.gov/dccourts/superior/civil/small_claims_faq.jsp ******************** It isn't always that simple when filing Pro Se. Forms, procedures, timeframes, etc. varie from state to state, and county to county. It has to be filed in the proper court, venue, and in the proper format. I would at least consult the Clerk of Court in the county that you intend to file your petition.
In my area of Canada the only way to "File criminal charges" is to file a complaint with the Police.
They, in consultation with the Crown prosecutor, decide whether to charge the person in question.
ADDED: The same situation exists in the US as well. Individuals cannot "file criminal charges" against another individual, only "the state," in the form of the prosecutors office, can do so.
However - in some jurisdictions, an individual can swear out a "complaint" against another individual and although they will not be arrested, they will be issued a summons to appear before a magistrate in answer to that complaint, at which time the individual who swore to the complaint must appear to give testimony.
You can contact your local Police department or Sheriffs Office. They can contact the appropriate Federal Law Enforcement agency or go to the United States District Court in your area and speak with the the US Attorney's Office, to have charges filed. You could also contact the FBI directly and they could assist you in contacting the correct federal agency.
You can file a complaint with the district attorney of your city or county. They will investigate and see if your complaint has merit.
Yes you can and you should file this complaint with the police department.
Yes, a minor can make a noise complaint. The local police department is where you file a complaint.
Police should not refuse top file a complaint form a citizen who has a legitimate gripe. There are watchdog groups that this behavior can be reported to.
Unfortunately you'll have to call the police and file a complaint
Are you kidding? Call the police. File a police report and complaint.
if police behave misconduct you should go to the commissioner office and send your complaint. They take action against them.
If he really is doing this, you can file a complaint with the PD. I had to file a complaint a few years ago against a police officer (although not for that) but generally, you can file a complaint against any police officer. Here, you go through the interal affairs department, but, just like any other process, if there's no proof, there's not much they can do.
As with any police department, go down to their station and ask to file a complaint. You should be sure you have the officer's name and/or badge number, patrol vehicle's number, and also the date and time you made contact with the officer
Someone has to file a complaint. If the police saw or found evidence of a crime at this incident then they may have a case.
you can contact your state governor and file a complaint with their office. if they feel you have enough evidence they will help file a lawsuit after some investigation has been done.
File a complaint with the police. Eat the loss. Or both.
