By obeying your city, state and national laws. And also by staying informed of your rights and responsibilities under the Constitution. An example would be: you may be protected under a law or supreme court case if accused of a crime. However if you do not know your general rights or are not educated in your rights, even if you get an OK lawyer, you might not be brought to "justice" under the rules of the Constitution. Also being informed of your rights will help you avoid being taken advantage of or fooled by a corrupt system (which in today's society is not common, but it happens) or under circumstances of quick thinking and irrational thinking. The criminal justice system constantly fights to be fair, and makes constant advances but the only way to be "fair" is to know your rights, and obey the general law.
