Contact the clerk of the court and ask what the disposition of the case was on that date. The records of the courts are open to the public as official records.

Contact the office of the clerk of the court that issued the civil summons immediately for instructions on how to return the summons. In most instances the court will allow the summons to stand, as it has been served at the only known address of the defendant and the suit will go forward with or without the response of the named defendant.

If you were never served a summons but the summons was accepted by another person at the residence can you appeal the judgment that was entered against you?

What appeal action if any that could be available to the debtor depends upon the laws of the state. In most cases a civil summons does not have to be delivered into the hands of the named person, only that a reasonable attempt has been made. In a case where the summons was accepted by a member of the household the law would presume that the named person would have been made aware of such and should have responded within the required time limit and/or appeared at the date of the hearing.

Do affidavit need to be hand delivered?

I assume you mean a summons? a affidavit is created after the summons has been served, the affidavit is what goes to the courts after you have been served. There are three ways a person can be served papers. One is (personal hand delivery) two is (suitable age) which means anyone of or over the age of 15 in your household. and last is (taping to the door) after three attempts to serve you papers these are all reasonable means of being served atleast in my State.
