I do not really know that is why I am asking
to limit president terms
The limit was set in 1947 with the passing of the Twenty-second Amendment which put a "term-limit" on the number of terms a single president can serve. The fact that FDR served four-terms as President helped to get the Amendment passed as well. See the Related Links for a more detailed description of the amendment.
The 22nd amendment limits the Presidential terms of office. The amendment was proposed by Congress on March 24, 1947 and ratified on February 27, 1951.
To limit presidential terms ocf office
The 22nd amendment added term limits to the Presidency. The original Constitution did not limit how many terms the President can serve. The 22nd amendment was enacted after Franklin D Roosevelt served four terms as President. The 22nd amendment limits an individual to two four year terms (a President who assumes office by reason other than an election (impreachment or death of the current president) can serve two full terms if he assumes office in the last two years of the former president's term and only one full term if he assumes office in the first two years of the former president. Yes. The Twenty-Second Amendment, ratified in 1951, limits the US President to two terms of office.
Technically, there is no legal limit to the number of terms a person can serve as U. S. President. The 22nd Amendment to the U. S. Constitution limits the number of times a person can be elected U. S. President to two. Those who previously served at least two years as President or Acting President can be elected only once.
The 22nd amendment
The twenty second (22nd) amendment to the US constitution sets a term limit for the President of the United States. The Congress passed the amendment on March 21, 1947. It was ratified on February 27, 1951.
FDR was elected to four consecutive terms of office as President of the United States. He is the only US President to serve more than two terms. (FDR died on April 12, 1945 before completing his last term). In 1951, the 22nd Amendment to the US Constitution placed a limit of two terms on the Office of President. Therefore, FDR's record cannot be broken (unless, of course, the 22nd Amendment is repealed).
