A teacher aide can become an important part of the instruction team by helping the teacher carry out important lessons. The aide can help grade work, create worksheets, and work with students under the teacher's instruction.
The effective teacher aide will be friendly, patient and full of ideas. He or she should be approachable to the student and knowledgeable in the subject at hand.
A special education aide may also be referred to as a an instructional aid or a paraprofessional. In Title I funded classrooms, special education aides must have two certificates.
