Wait the Western predator and vital link in the Western American ecological ffod chain has been given a reprieve!A News Release from Washington, D.C. from Rob Emanuel himself states:"Rahm Emanuel, White House Chief of Staff, issued a memorandum that directed federal agencies to withdraw all regulations that had not been published in the Federal Register so that they can be reviewed and approved by a department or agency head appointed by the President. Therefore, the final rule to delist the Gray Wolf Western Great Lakes DPS (which was announced on Jan. 14) was withdrawn to allow for further review. " U.S. Fish and Wildlife ServiceA battle has been won regarding the grey wolf but the 'war' to save endangered wildlife is far from over.Imperiled wildlife are the responsibility of all people and the wolf is in need of our help now. Why should we protect and defend the right to life of a predatory animal, such as the Grey Wolf?One - wolves are recognized as "a keystone species" critical in the bio-system for a balanced natural world....(Defenders of Wildlife). The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service has conducted numerous studies at Yellowstone National Park that indicate wolves support a wide variety of other animal life. The reports show: "ravens, foxes, wolverines, coyotes, bald eagles, and even bears feed on the carcasses of animals killed by wolves. Antelope are swift, elk are alert, and mountain goats are adept at climbing steep cliffs, in part because of the long-term effects of wolf predation". It appears that wolves help "maintain the balance between these ungulates" (hoofed animals) and their food supply, making room for other herbivores like beavers and weasels to survive.
