So i work at a independent pub in the UK. They have said when i come in for training i wont be paid. But they will order pizzas and have a few drinks when we finish. But this is not happening. I also do not view my work as training. It is making spreadsheets of the items we sell and the prices we sell it as. Something that i think most people would be able to do. This training has come about because they are getting a new till system and this information has to be down to program it. The only thing they have taught me in the four days i have been in has been how to work out the Gross profit percentage of each drink we sell.
In my opinion i don't see this as training and more my managers cant be bothered to do the spreadsheets themselves so getting people lower than them to do it. Should i ask to be paid for the hours i've done. Is it illegal for them not to pay me for the work if they have expected me to come in even though its not on the rota?
Ive seen someone be fired for not coming in when its not been on the rota before...
