2010 will continue to be the year of the NCO. Noncommissioned officers are the backbone of Western militaries.
WW2
This question is NOT NEARLY specific enough ! -How are we to know WHICH NCO you are referring to. If this is from a novel or movie, you must tell us which.
No, even after the exam you will not be able to see it on any website.
World War I had the greatest impact on NCO's. After a year of heavy casualties, the United States had run out of trained NCO's. This lack of leadership in the enlisted ranks took its toll, with an extremely high casualty rate that gave General Pershing cause for alarm. A new system of promotion and training was brought into being, cementing the NCO's role as extremely vital in the hierarchy of the US military.
WWI
World War I had the greatest impact on the NCO's status. The United States was woefully unprepared for the heavy toll fighting would take on their troops, so by the end of the first year, they had no experienced NCO's to call upon. This led to extremely high casualty rates and the creation of schools specifically for training non commissioned officers.
The NCO or non-commissioned officer has always had an important role in leading troops in battle. World War II gave NCO's more power and visibility and is thought to have had the greatest impact on their status.
