Slaves were known mainly as working in the fields. But it wasnt until cotton became popular (1800's) that they began that. They were often used to cook for their masters, complete house work, feed animals on the farm, keep land clean, hunt for food, gather fire wood. Mainly anything that there master wanted them to do

Slaves are forced to do many kinds of work such as building and farming but they are also often given hard and unpleasant jobs which no one wants to do.Depending on their skills slaves could be made to do almost any job that can be done. For the most part slaves just did labour work, and the othe jobs that other people did not want to do. However slaves could also be skilled tradesmen and even administrators if their master wanted them to be. (In the Bible Joseph, son to Jacob was a slave who became First Minister of all Egypt}
