Most places will not hire a 12 year old. You usually need to be at least 14. When you are 14, fast food restaurants, grocery stores and camps all hire 14 year olds.
Most places allow a 14 year old to get a work permit. In most places in the US, if the studio is owned by the family, the children can work there. And it can not be considered a hazardous job.
