i wouldnt call it hard, its more of a long process there are secondary schools you have to go to after finishing four years at a normal college. its a really rewarding job if you do go through with it. the pay is nice and you get to work with animals :)
The hard part--aside from the courses of "course"--is getting in to the vet school in the first place. There are fewer vet schools than human-medical schools, and an awful lot of people want in. Take a lot of math and science.
Well it depends what your studying say dogs it could probaly take up to 5 or 6 years thats not that long if you think about it like you got to go to college for 4 years and then two years for something else!
This depends on what you mean by hard. A vet assistant ("lay tech") spends most of her day on her feet walking around with animals and helping hold them still while the registered vet tech or veterinarian is performing a test or drawing a sample. The days tend to be long (10-12 hours) and you will often work weekends and be on call for emergencies overnight. It can also be very difficult to see animals in pain or be euthanized. However, the positive side is that a vet assistant can communicate with clients to help the animals, be there when the pet pulls through and be recognized as a valuable part of the animal care team.
It's not a job where you can take multiple breaks when you want to and expect to go home at the end of your shift exactly on time. It can be physically, mentally and emotionally draining and there will be bad days where everything seems to go wrong. It is, however, a job where you can see the difference you make every day.
Yes. You better know how to read and do math well because you will be doing it for eight years in college.
No, you cannot. Becoming a vet requires that you have the appropriate degree in veterinary MEDICINE (the name of the degree varies depending on where in the world you are).

Becoming a vet is pretty cool. You get to work with animals all the time. 5/10 times it can be hell with the animals but if they listen it can be fun.
Yes, it is very competitive to get into vet school and the coursework to complete vet school is difficult.
