I do not know the pay scale in Florida but one Florida apprentice came to NYC and I started him off @$25 per hr .. He worked a few months and went back

yes, you can join ibew as an apprentice. they will most likely make you start over as a first year apprentice however. a first year apprentice in the ibew makes as much money as a 3rd or 4th year open shop apprentice.

Traditionally, in California, an apprenticeship is for 5 years. The apprentice starts out at 50% of what the journeyman is paid. After each 6 month period of BOTH work experience and class room academic training (which is based on a set # of hours for each, and thus can take more than 6 months to complete) the apprentice receives a 5% raise in pay. Thus after seccessfully completing 10 , 6 month periods , and after passing a final test, the apprentice becomes a journeyman at full journeyman pay.
