How do you get a taxi permit in Jacksonville NC?

First you get an application for the city from the company that you are planning on working for.

You must pass a drug test. Most people go to CDTeg which is located on New Bridge street. The test is $40.00 and they send all the information right to the city for you once the results are in.

Go to the Onslow County Courthouse and get a criminal background check and one copy to give to the city and the base.

Take the application and a money order for $14.00 to JPD and you will be given a form to take to the city office, which is at the water department at city hall, and pay your fee for fingerprinting and photo.

You must bring your own pictures to the base for your ID. Most of us use Walgreens or RiteAid and get passport pictures. You take your background check, new city permit, and passport picture to the base, along with a photocopy of your permit, drivers license and SS card and you'll receive your base permit. All of this can only be done on Tuesdays and Thursdays between 8am and 11am or 1pm amd 4pm. They are very strict on the times, so if you miss it, you are out of luck for that day.
