That depends. If you are in middle school, scholarships are probably not going to be available. If you are attending a private school and unable to pay for it, I would talk to your school principal and tell them about the situation. Your county board of education may also have useful information. If you are in high school and looking for a scholarship, I strongly suggest fastweb.com. They have scholarship opportunities for high school students and offer a variety of opportunities such as writing contests and cash awards to those looking to earn degress in certain fields after high school. If you are in college and looking for a scholarship, you probably already know you are not eligible for federal or state aide. You would also most likely not be eligible for grants, loans, or school scholarships. However, I would give the scholarship idea a try WITH the help of a college councelor. They often state you only need to have financial need to qualify, and you can protest that they are descriminating against your age if they deny you based on your birth date. Overall, it's not easy to get a scholarship before your 16th birthday. Even after that, your options are limited. I suggest visiting your local library, board of education, and school advisor to talk about financial struggles and need. They are often very helpful. Good luck to you.

You have to continue to apply to scholarships even when you have not won one. If you turn in enough quality essays, compete in enough competitions and obtain enough votes, all while giving back to the community, you will get a scholarship.
