It will be extremely difficult to find an employer willing to hire a 14-year-old for a regular job. Your best bet is probably to go into business for yourself doing light chores (raking leaves, mowing lawns, shoveling snow) or babysitting, and your potential clients are your family and neighbors.

You need to be 16 to get a work permit. Child labor laws prevent people from hiring people under the age of 16.

Improved : Actually if you are 16, a work permit is not required. I'm 14 and have a work permit. If you are 14 or 15 with a work permit then there are certain jobs that won't hire you, or they won't pay much.

The only jobs that will hire 14-yr-olds with a work permit will be fast food restaurants, Walmart or Targets, on online work.

Fourteen year olds are legally not old enough to gain a work permit. They can however do odd jobs like mowing grass, taking trash to the road, weeding, and other such chores.
