The hotel manager must be a people person with the ability to solve many situations that come up daily within the hotel such as total customer satifaction, knowing everything that is going on at any given time, late check-outs, early check-ins, clean rooms, rate discount for seniors, hotel preferred customers, AAA members and many more. Attention to detail is of the utmost importance. If the hotel offers room service that the food arrives on time and exactly what the customer ordered. The hotel manager must oversee all of these departments and while keeping the customer happy must also keep his employees happy to maintain a happy and efficient environment for all.

Just the basic management knowledge is not quite sufficient to be a successfull manager. Knowledge of the firm/company that you are going to manage, knowing your exact guidelines, knowing your employees, maybe even some of their backgrounds, etc are some of the other qualities to be a good manager. Having a good attitude, good personality, dressing, etc are some of the other important personal things that a successful manager should have.
The hotel should supply a cot for them, just ask the manager or someone, they should have some, if not then I'm not sure sorry :)
