caterpillar are fun to take care of and great pet too so take care of it
Someone told me a solid black caterpillar means cold weather for the up and coming winter season. I live in the midwest...we didn't have a real cold winter but we had a lot of snow.
No, the color of a caterpillar does not indicate the severity of the winter. It is a myth with no scientific basis. Winter weather patterns are determined by complex meteorological factors, not the appearance of caterpillars.
According to the Farmer's Almanac, if a caterpillar is wooly and all white with a black stripe down the middle, it could be a bad winter. A plain white wooly caterpillar means a very bad winter.
Not in ny....but black means a bad winter..where ever u are.
i believe its fall/winter and comes out in spring/summer.
caterpillar season. and they dont go away until winter
One major adaptation of a caterpillar is that they can go into a dormant state during the winter months. This helps them to survive much longer than they would otherwise.
they are from 5 cm to 1 meter ,depends . The length of a caterpillar would depend on the particular species. Some species may be as small as one quarter of an inch while others may be four to six inches long.
That sounds like a cinnabar moth caterpillar. They are toxic and can deliver quite a sting and are quite aggressive towards each other.
There is a folklore belief that a white caterpillar (woolly bear caterpillar) with a narrow brown middle band predicts a harsh winter ahead, while one with a wider brown band predicts a milder winter. However, this is not scientifically proven and should not be relied upon for accurate weather forecasting.
