Sea Stars otherwise known as Star Fish are Echinoderms and they do not have an exoskeleton, they have an endoskeleton.
Echinoderms, such as sea stars and sea urchins, have an endoskeleton made of hard plates called ossicles that lie inside their bodies. Although this endoskeleton is internal, it functions similarly to an exoskeleton by providing support and protection. It allows echinoderms to control their body shape and movement, just like an exoskeleton does for other invertebrates.

The scientific name for spiny-skinned animals, such as sea urchins and sea stars, is Echinodermata. This phylum includes marine organisms with a calcareous endoskeleton covered by spines or plates.
The echinoderm with an endoskeleton made of a single crystal of calcium carbonate is a sea urchin. This endoskeleton is made up of many plates that fit together, forming a rigid structure that surrounds the sea urchin's soft tissues and protects it from predators.
Includes: Sea Stars, Sea Lillies, Sea Urchins, Sea Cucumbers, Brittle Stars
They make up the skeleton and protect internal structures.
